Attention: RC-CAM.com will permanently shut down on August-08-2021.

The RC-Cam.com forum was the very first online community dedicated to the advancement of wireless video cameras on radio controlled (R/C) models. This is now called "FPV" (First Person View). We are proud of the contributions that our members have made to the FPV hobby.

We've seen significant changes over the last twenty years. Initially there were a lot of eager R/C hobbyist that built their own video systems. Allowing these creative individuals to share their work was the purpose of this site. Now the FPV market is flooded with low cost systems; Sadly DiY FPV video projects are now rarely discussed.

RC-CAM.com (main site and forum) will be closing down August 2021. This was announced several months ago (March 2021) to allow our members ample time to download any information that is important to them. After the site is shutdown the information will no longer be available here.

We appreciate every member's involvement with advancing the FPV hobby. It is indeed sad to say goodbye to all our online friends. Be safe and stay healthy.

  1. maybe this is a fuel efficient model that can be copied. http://www.defense-update.com/products/s/SODIV.htm
  2. I tryied to post the following comentary, but I could not log in. I received the email with password but still cannnot log. can you post it for me? thanks. here it goes: Fiquei surpreso quando ele contou que poucas pessoas o conheciam em Quebec. Thanks for enabling the dream of really flying our model aircrafts through "VR". I would call it tele-presence.I also was amazed to know that he is little known in his town. 3. thanks a lot guys! I think I will start with the sim, and then join a club. what I can do is buy a cheap plane like the foam one with blue wing from vrflyer and later adapt it, after i learn to fly! thanks a lot!
  4. I want to start a FPV project with a friend. But here are the details: 1-I have no experience at all with electronics. 2-I've never piloted a RC plane. ( I guess that in fpv it will be pretty much like a flight sim) 3-I don't know much programming. 4- I live in Brazil Will I succeed? how much I will spend? I want a good quality camera with a good transmitter to send video from miles ( maybe 2 ) away. And a good radio. I want to have throtle, aileron, rudder and elevator control. Will a electric motor make the flight smoother? I've seen videos of a 4 stroke plane with a canopy with airspeed indicator and some LEDs. Ive also seen GPS , compass and altitude on-screen in real time. How much that adds to the project? And most important, were do I find all this stuff? What plane should I get? I would probably buy the stuff online and then ship it to brazil. thanks guys!
  5. use also a 9 channel radio and add some rocket firing system. ehehe!
  6. Sure it would, but the difference is that it is REAL! It is not VR, it is telepresence. That way you really are flying an aircraft but from the safety of the ground. Is it possible to hook a flight joystick to the futaba radio, and map its controls to the stick?
  7. and another thing I've just remembered. I saw at Siggraph last year a remote control for people, created by some crazy japanese. It worked like this. the person wears a type of earphone , that actually has some electrodes that send small electrical charges at the back of the ear that mess with the equilibrium of the person, altering its balance. I used it my self on a demo with a racing game. You could actually feel aceleration from the car during brakes and curves!! eheheh super trippy!!! The other application was to remote control people. you put the earphone and walk straight, and a guy with the remote controller makes you turn left or right! also by messing with the equilibrium , you are forced to turn to the side he pushes in the radio, because you have a felling that you are losing your balance. hyper trippy!
  8. sorry if I didn't express myself properly, but thats what I meant! for the rich guys that make fullsized simulator platforms at home for they MS flight sim, that would be great. Coupled with 2 cams for stereo vision, that would be the ultimate trill! buy your self a R360 arcade http://www.keinert.com/ and adapt is to the radio. that would not be impossible and I know there are a lot of guys that can do this. eheheh! trippy!
  9. what if you put a gyro on the plane, that sends info about the angle of the plane , back to the pilot in a motion base? eheheh pretty expensive, but would be the ultimate in tele-presence. throw in a dual camera for stereo vision and you are set. could this work? p.s. I dont even own a plane, but i am thinking of making fpv for me with gyro.
