Attention: RC-CAM.com will be closing down August 2021.

The RC-Cam.com forum was the very first online community dedicated to the advancement of wireless video cameras on radio controlled (R/C) models. This is now called "FPV" (First Person View). We are proud of the contributions that our members have made to the FPV hobby.

We've seen significant changes over the last twenty years. Initially there were a lot of eager R/C hobbyist that built their own video systems. Allowing these creative individuals to share their work was the purpose of this site. Now the FPV market is flooded with low cost systems; Sadly DiY FPV video projects are now rarely discussed.

RC-CAM.com (main site and forum) will be closing down August 2021. This was announced several months ago (March 2021) to allow our members ample time to download any information that is important to them. After the site is shutdown the information will no longer be available here.

We appreciate every member's involvement with advancing the FPV hobby. It is indeed sad to say goodbye to all our online friends. Be safe and stay healthy.

  1. try looking into a used Sony DCR - SR100 hard drive based camcorder with analog in and out? John
  2. I hope it's for a good cause Terry for you and Thomas has always been one my mentors. You should be in the developing sector like in your past and sharing your cutting edge concepts. Anyhow hope to see you make a come back soon and wow us again! John
  3. Sorry about that Thomas and thanks Terry... long time no talk! John
  4. The Dragon OSD Plus is now on sale here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1211816 For tonight I am offering the first 15 at 99 dollars USD, but no current sensor or GPS. I recommend the GPS be purchased from DPCAV http://www.dpcav.com/xcart/home.php?cat=250 since Thomas has the best selection and price and the $20 Attopilot current sensor by Dean can be purchased at www.sparkfun.com John
  5. Here is the old Dragon OSD sitting next to Dragon OSD Plus
  6. Here is a link for more info. http://exposureroom.com/members/DanielWee/57c0ab39a0c54a5bbae5cf75066c8a08/ http://exposureroom.com/members/DanielWee/0609e0b23ca041b788b3a825e547e05f/ http://www.forum.tsebi.com/viewforum.php?f=7 We are still working on a manual for this plus current sensor is not available on this batch of OSDs but really easy to make. This was just due to the timing of when our OSD PCB was manufactured and the unavailability the new Allegro sensor. Another link to make your own current sensor (takes a few minutes ) by modifying Dean's Attopilot current sensor. BTW..new company website is still under construction. John
  7. They don't talk about Dragon OSD anymore because Intelligent Flight is now closed. Mark got overwhelmed at the end for a one man operation with a full time job (software enineer). Dragon OSD still lives and the new version will be available soon by us. John

  9. Yeah Tim, looks like I need to do the same!
  10. Yeah HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!! I hope it's a banner year to all!!! And Thomas... I am so happy you are finally making this awesome dream come true!! I'm standing up and clapping my hands at you!
  11. I believe the servo trays are inside the fuse, therefore it has taken up more fpv gear real estate compared to the Multiplex EZ*. Their EZ Glider ripp off looks very interesting though!
  12. I have one New Generation Hobbies 2.4Ghz A/V Receiver and a matching 500mW A/V TX for sale. This smartly designed unit works flawless and the TX has a built in voltage step down regulator to feed any 5 volt camera (such as the KX131), thus saving you the hassle of hacking in a V-REG with too much wires hanging around. The RX is modified by me to accept any JST type 11.1 lipo as well as the 9 volt lipo New Generation Hobbies sells. The TX can be powered from a 7.4 to a 11.1V lipo. The receiver has a LED power light indicator, 8 channel switch selector and component RCA output. I'm letting this go for $140.00 USD and that includes shipping anywhere in the world. Items included are: 1 NG Hobbies 2.4Ghz A/V TX 1 NG Hobbies 2.4Ghz A/V RX 2 3dbi omni directional antennas $140.00 US includes S/H anywhere in the world. (Prefer Paypal payment method) PM or email me (jmstech-AT-hotmail.com) if you are interested.
  13. Agree! That was a great video and nice to see he did it right!!!
  15. NICE FIND RON!!! I love those Night Fall shots! The amount of lights covering the land really makes me think of how much we humans consume from this planet. Maybe that is why China is checking out new real estate ventures on the moon.
  16. Did you ever try to walk or drive around slowly with the windows down and toggle the throttle? Twice I found my downed plane this way by listening for the whine. Mind you this would only work if the plane wasn't to mangled.
  17. I'm sorry to hear the loss Terry. Looks like you might have to send another FPV plane up in the air to do a search and rescue
  18. Actually I was using it for what it was meant for... video surveillance. But to me the only way to do this with out any scratch issues is to use glass domes but that could be a weight issue. The plastic dome idea is a good idea for FPV but you are dealing with a moving plane in a unpredictable environment and things do happen. Again this still has a good chance to work if you place this in a better location where the chances of rocks or grass will not touch it upon landing. As for the yellowing part.. I don't know how many hours/days of UV penetration till it starts to discolor, but is this a big issue for the amount of air time it will get?
  19. Also make a note if these scratch easily. I recall wiping off some finger print stains from the dome with a paper napkin (wrong choice but only thing avail at the time) and it permanently left scratches on it where it blurred the video.
  20. My 2Km trip was done last year but since then our gear has improved a lot since (God bless Mr.RC-CAM ) BTW the spotter (me) did see the 2KM trip... we actually lost the plane but managed to fly back by static video. Now that I have a few OSDs kicking around and patiently waiting for I.F. RF link, I love to push the limits of my 500mW Airwaves, Lawmates, Gospellar and another brand that I.F. was toying with (as soon as I get my hands on it and they claimed best results over all the brands). And yes I too will use my Oracle and record/post this flight.
  21. well I was going to play with my newly purchased left and right circular patch antennas with Oracle, but perhaps I will test the 8db and 14db patch first. I used to fly with my 14 db on a tripod and had not so good results because of too narrow of a beam along with static. Now I use my 8db patch on the ground and have almost static free flights, mind you the 14db did give me some awesome range. (2KM) But needed a spotter to constantly point the patch at the plane. 8db patch on the ground 8db on a tripod (notice more static on this video)
  22. Me too but I realized if I use good quality caps and chokes, plus populate the components as close as possible to the v-reg, this helps stabilize the noise.
