Attention: RC-CAM.com will be closing down August 2021.

The RC-Cam.com forum was the very first online community dedicated to the advancement of wireless video cameras on radio controlled (R/C) models. This is now called "FPV" (First Person View). We are proud of the contributions that our members have made to the FPV hobby.

We've seen significant changes over the last twenty years. Initially there were a lot of eager R/C hobbyist that built their own video systems. Allowing these creative individuals to share their work was the purpose of this site. Now the FPV market is flooded with low cost systems; Sadly DiY FPV video projects are now rarely discussed.

RC-CAM.com (main site and forum) will be closing down August 2021. This is being announced now (March 2021) so that everyone has time to download any information that is important to them. After the site is shutdown the information will no longer be available here.

We appreciate every member's involvement with advancing the FPV hobby. It is indeed sad to say goodbye to all our online friends. Be safe and stay healthy.

  1. Thx for the info. when I was looking at the crius AIOP v2 boards, all were sold out at the time. only dealextreme has v1. So I put it off for a while. Just checked the RCtimer, they have the AIOP V2 and the U-blox GPS V2 as well, so ordered a set. cheaper than at dealextreme. I just started the Multiwii thing, got my hands full just to get it up in the air. have not looked into the serial port communication yet. Will look into that.
  2. wow, Euro has a strange way of putting ',' in the numbers. I thought it was twenty four thousand and 900 euros. Any way, I need use some thousand dollars video/photography equipment 1st to use this. I think that is cheating. they turned off the motor at or before deploying the parachute. what if you can't turn off the motor, the lines will be tangled/cut with rotors. If I still can control the multi the chances of it falling down is low. Hmm, may be an emergency switch can be programed to turn off motor then deploy the chute. if we lose signal, the fail safe can be programmed
  3. do you have a link to such parachute system? I am curious about how they deal with the still rotating props when it comes out.
  4. I would be interested in a board like this. I have a HK MultiWii PRO Flight Controller w/MTK GPS Module on my quad 450. and my next one most likely would be a crius AIOP board (better sensor and GPS) for a tricopter like VTOL EDF plane which I am building/drawing.
  5. yep, use a compressed Helium cartridge and blow into a 'balloon' it actually can float and save the multi/DSLR at low altitude.
  6. I wonder why no one has come out with a rigid prop guard for multi yet. It should not be so hard to make one. Many micro/mini quad already have it.
  7. hmm, I was looking at the voice module with more detail. what signal does the Vmodule gives out? It says can store 15 commmands. Once it is programed by the arduno, If we can convert these 15 commmands to a signal acceptable via I2C,Sky9x board has tons of I2C port not used yet. I wonder if we can just link the Vmodule directly to the I2C input, and MikeB can write (or beg him ) some codes (like V1-V15 voice switch) for Sky9x to accept codes from I2C. Then it would work. right? I know. Too little electronic knowledge to deal with this. But I think it can be done fairly simple?
  8. +1 Here are a few questions I have: 1. for the Sky9x board which already has an excellent audio/amp circuitry, can this be utilized/integrated and simplify the design of the PCB board? 2. Sky9x already has SD voice files and more can be added. Can this VR/arduno utilize the voice files on the SD? 3. in open9x forum there is some discussion about using the BT for audio and that can be easily implemented with this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/180878952260?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 and this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Stereo-A2DP-Bluetooth-V3-0-Music-Headset-e
  9. haha, I was thinking using the ping pong ball too. Only mine is yellow. Now i know it does fit. by the way, the registration is confusing. I answered the question : "which language is spoken in the united states/" A: 150 of them according to ObamaCare and it was rejected. hmmm :) and the balidation numbers, when I click on 'voice/spker', it pronounce some really odd sound almost inaudible.
