The RC-Cam.com forum was the very first online community dedicated to the advancement of wireless video cameras on radio controlled (R/C) models. This is now called "FPV" (First Person View). We are proud of the contributions that our members have made to the FPV hobby.

We've seen significant changes over the last twenty years. Initially there were a lot of eager R/C hobbyist that built their own video systems. Allowing these creative individuals to share their work was the purpose of this site. Now the FPV market is flooded with low cost systems; Sadly DiY FPV video projects are now rarely discussed.

RC-CAM.com (main site and forum) will be closing down August 2021. This is being announced now (March 2021) so that everyone has time to download any information that is important to them. After the site is shutdown the information will no longer be available here.

We appreciate every member's involvement with advancing the FPV hobby. It is indeed sad to say goodbye to all our online friends. Be safe and stay healthy.

    If I recall you had offered the PCB in sets of 4 for the regulator above.

    Has your supply been exhausted?

    I don't see the order link I thought was here. I have the assembly PDF by the way and don’t seem see that link either. Some post editing possibly or was it just a dream. :rolleyes:

    Just getting around to doing a DigiKey order for some needed goodies.




    Thanks for pointing out the other styles of connector. It didn't click with me that the original one was surface mount. I am contemplating using one of them for an inline end of wire connection.

    Spotted your latest creation on the first day of your post but was short of time to comment then.

    A simple and very useful product you have produced.

    I have wanted to find a source for that little connector, I had looked through Digikey but was basically lost with all the types.

    It would appear that the transmitter in the photo is the moderately larger 12V 100Mw type. Thought I would point that out to prevent somebody being confused concerning it and the 5V 200mW TX you mentioned.

  3. Just a thought or two.

    Angle of attack is better than airspeed for stall warning. The stall angle remains constant while stall speed changes with G loading, aircraft weight etc.

    I have flown the Piper Cherokee and recall its stall warning system.

    It used a tab I would guess about 2cm (3/4”) square. It was installed in the lower leading edge of one wing, was angled slightly down and possibly held with a very light spring tension or weight. Its travel was limited to a few degrees so if lifted by a high angle of attack it would reset as the angle was reduced again.

    I wouldn’t think that a reduced model sized tab could provide the force needed actuate a micro switch.

    An alternate idea could be to use an optical device that could detect the small lifted tab. Look at an old roller ball mouse and the optical setup that uses an LED and sensor divided by a rotating wheel with slits to detect motion. Just apply the idea and parts. The needed electronics could be simple.


  4. I have used the Minolta F100 4mp and the updated F300 5mp cameras. They are discontinued but currently available on ebay from Rits Camera.

    Just ordered a spare F300, got it for the 249.99 US minimum bid price. It arrived new in box with the following extras not mentioned, AC Charger with 4 AA Nimh batteries and a small camera bag.

    The video out is live, it takes great pictures and the power down can be set for 10 Minutes, just trigger the shutter to bring the camera back to life.

    More great info relating to helicopter photo and video flying here.




    Don't underestimate the experience needed to safely maintain and fly a helicopter in what usually amounts to very challenging situations. This may be the most difficult part of the r/c heli aerial photo idea.

    I have had the pleasure flying both fixed and rotary wing aircraft (full-scale and r/c) for many years and now do the r/c flying for http://www.digital-aerials.ca/

    The owner is a commercial pilot and had been doing aerial photo work from a Cessna, he had also received his rotary wing rating and always wanted to fly helicopters. This lead to the digital-aerials r/c heli business but he found the flying more difficult than he expected. I will be teaching him as we go along but for now we have photo jobs to do.

    I would suggest you learn to fly first, perfect your skills and then think about the photo work.
