The RC-Cam.com forum was the very first online community dedicated to the advancement of wireless video cameras on radio controlled (R/C) models. This is now called "FPV" (First Person View). We are proud of the contributions that our members have made to the FPV hobby.

We've seen significant changes over the last twenty years. Initially there were a lot of eager R/C hobbyist that built their own video systems. Allowing these creative individuals to share their work was the purpose of this site. Now the FPV market is flooded with low cost systems; Sadly DiY FPV video projects are now rarely discussed.

RC-CAM.com (main site and forum) will be closing down August 2021. This is being announced now (March 2021) so that everyone has time to download any information that is important to them. After the site is shutdown the information will no longer be available here.

We appreciate every member's involvement with advancing the FPV hobby. It is indeed sad to say goodbye to all our online friends. Be safe and stay healthy.

  1. I started using the same video chip, but ended up using a BOB video overlay module. Not nearly as complicated I'll probably see if I can get the video chip to do what I want again at a later date now I've learnt a lot more. Building this thing has been a learning experience for me.
  2. Hi, Mine is almost done as well, on prototype board anyways. If I can figure out why I'm getting garbage from my new Lassen IQ gps module, I'd be done! Just wondering how you were going to read your AMPs? I've reserved a space on my screen for it, but not actually done that bit yet. I've a hall affect current sensor on the way. A really neat all in one from Allegro that outputs a linear voltage vs current detected. Paul edit Here's a pic of mine. Still can't decide where to best put all the bits on the screen.   3. This really is amazing. I wish I could do things like this as easily. I'm building one, but it'll likely be months in progress (already has been) How did you go straght to PCB without even components!? You didn't even build a prototype? Do you have some kind of software simulator, or are you just that good? It took me a week just to get the video working. Can I ask what software you made your PCB's with?   4. I've not found anything that does not use the GPS itself for it's heading yet, so am going to have a go at writting this myself. I'll let you know if I get anywhere.

  6. Hi, Building a new AP ship with GPS. I decided to purchase a Lessan IQ module. Without thinking it all through, I ordered it, and of course it does not support the uploading of waypoints. Is it difficult to calculate your own 'course to stear' to a waypoint? I'm using BX24's and PIC's. I can't see to find any info on the web regarding this. Just wondering if I'm better to use somthing like a stripped down Geko instead where I can simply upload waypoints and stear the course it output's via nmea or if I can do this myself via the BX24. If anyone has any pointers on how to calcul
  7. yes, after I contacted them they were willing to ship samples, however the higher price, 30 for shipping and the bank fees (payment only in sf by bank wire) means it's just to awkward. I've managed to order a couple mpx sensors from farnell.
  8. Hi, I'm looking for recommendations for an altitude sensor for a PIC project I'm working on. Ive seen the Motorola MPX one, and the MS5534, which is better but more expensive. The only problem is that I cannot find a supplier in the UK. Does anyone know of a suitable alternative component or where I might be able to purchase these sensors to be shipped to the UK at reasonable cost? Thanks.
  9. Hi, I'm currently working on my first UAV (a moviestar with PIC processor). Whilst I've decided on most things, I thought I'd try and find out how others are handling the switching from manual to auto. My current thought is to use a PCM reciever with fail safe for out of range and the gear switch set to switch between the reciever and the autopilot by switching the servos via electronic switches or relays. This should give me auto manually or if the reciever fails. Any better ideas? Specifics? Thanks.
