Attention: RC-CAM.com will permanently shut down on August-08-2021.

The RC-Cam.com forum was the very first online community dedicated to the advancement of wireless video cameras on radio controlled (R/C) models. This is now called "FPV" (First Person View). We are proud of the contributions that our members have made to the FPV hobby.

We've seen significant changes over the last twenty years. Initially there were a lot of eager R/C hobbyist that built their own video systems. Allowing these creative individuals to share their work was the purpose of this site. Now the FPV market is flooded with low cost systems; Sadly DiY FPV video projects are now rarely discussed.

RC-CAM.com (main site and forum) will be closing down August 2021. This was announced several months ago (March 2021) to allow our members ample time to download any information that is important to them. After the site is shutdown the information will no longer be available here.

We appreciate every member's involvement with advancing the FPV hobby. It is indeed sad to say goodbye to all our online friends. Be safe and stay healthy.

  1. Mr.RC-Cam, Thanks much for that! I will order one of those displays. I haven't forgotten about this project... but I just don't have time to work on it right now.
  2. Awesome Kilrah! As soon as I saw that Sbach I just knew someone would FPV it.
  3. Well I offically have too many hobbies.... ...a bit off topic here... but thought I'd post anyway incase anyone is wondering what's happening with this... I have all the parts I need to start this project... ....but one of the other things I do is play guitar in a band.... ....and since we have a gig coming up... ....I've been doing nothing but practice/rehearse. I also got the RockSmith guitar game and let me tell you.... what an addictive thing that is! RockSmith lets you plug in a real guitar to your game console, or a PC, and is VERY fun/educational. Someone that has never played guitar before can actually learn guitar with this game. Even many pro's like it. Sorry for the OT and plug for RockSmith... BTW I am NOT affiliated with UbiSoft or RockSmith in any way. Just an enthusiastic user of the game. http://rocksmith.ubi...home/index.aspx I will get back to this airspeed project at some point... but right now there are other priorities...
  4. Ok, I found this thread... http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=914198 His dashboard is much more complex than what I want... ...but I like the idea of using a servo to drive a pointer on a gauge dial. Much easier to read at a glance than a digital display.
  5. Walks are cleared... .... and the weather is warming up... so the big melt is on... I have downloaded the IDE and played with it a bit... but can't do much without the board... It'll get here soon... I hope...
  6. Thanks Still waiting for my stuff to show up.... EagleTree sensor came... but nothing else yet... I seem to be having an issue with my postal service and/or letter carrier... there is some kind of "attitude" going on.... My letter carrier left me a nasty note about clearing the snow from my walk... which I do... But I'm the only one living here... and if it snows heavy during the day while I'm at work... like it did the other day....there is not much I can do 'til I get home... Besides, our city bylaw states that I have 48 hours AFTER the snowfall STOPS, to get the walks cleared. Some of my mail "may" be getting sent to the wrong place/address, for some stupid reason... ...and I already had a camera I ordered, get "lost in the mail"... The package required a signature... but 3 days after I opened an investigation with the post office... the package mysteriously appeared on my doorstep on a Saturday. I was home but no-one knocked on the door??? Very strange... since a sig was required. Asking at the post office where I pick up my mail... the tracking # showed that no-one ever signed for that package... @#%$#$&%$ government union employees.... Aside from that... Got the Arduino books, and have been reading/studying... but really need the Arduino board to get here....
  7. The fancy display would be cool... could make a neat "analog" looking "speed-o-meter"......but I'm inclined to agree with Mr.RC-Cam. The simple 2 line display will likely be easier for me to muck around with at first. Don't forget, I'm a complete noob at arduino... I just got my arduino beginner books in the mail last night...
  8. Thanks guys! Terry, the tilt servos are HK939mg and the gyro is an old GWS PG-01NP... that I had laying around. Ya I'm liking the gyro on the tilt... but it's a little weird at first. Also going fast over rough terrain it really gets a workout. I may need to turn down the gain. I just set gain at half and drove, didn't try to tweak it at all. Contrast the Blizz vid.... with this one with no gyro... and "sorta" the same setup...
  9. I hope so... I've been spammin.... errr posting... yeah thats it... posting this vid in a bunch of different forums... So I thought why not here... Video of my just completed... highly modified... Kyosho Blizzard... Don't mind some of the comments in the vid... ...they are there for folks that might not know much about FPV... since I also post about this machine on a Snowcat forum... not many folks there doing FPV... ... and there is a little surprise a few minutes into the vid... Sorry it's so long... I tried to make it interesting.... http://vimeo.com/37142114
  10. Well that is awesome... Eagle Tree responded to my support ticket and will ship the sensor pre-configured for third party use.
  11. Ha ha! I have already spent more than just ordering the full ET setup.... :) ... the things we do in pursuit of our ideas... It's only money... can't take it with me.... just doing my part to stimulate the economy....
  12. Well, I ordered the ET sensor also.... ....but the E-Logger is needed to config the sensor for 3rd party use. I opened a support ticket to ask if they will do the 3rd party config before shipping the sensor.
  13. Thanks for the suggestions Kilrah, Is this the one http://www.sparkfun.com/products/8538 you had in mind at the Glyn site? Ahhhh, ok... I have ordered 3 different displays... http://www.sparkfun.com/products/255 http://www.sparkfun.com/products/8538 http://www.sparkfun.com/products/10773 One of these should be suitable... I don't mind buying extra stuff.... I'll find a use for it somewhere....
