The RC-Cam.com forum was the very first online community dedicated to the advancement of wireless video cameras on radio controlled (R/C) models. This is now called "FPV" (First Person View). We are proud of the contributions that our members have made to the FPV hobby.

We've seen significant changes over the last twenty years. Initially there were a lot of eager R/C hobbyist that built their own video systems. Allowing these creative individuals to share their work was the purpose of this site. Now the FPV market is flooded with low cost systems; Sadly DiY FPV video projects are now rarely discussed.

RC-CAM.com (main site and forum) will be closing down August 2021. This is being announced now (March 2021) so that everyone has time to download any information that is important to them. After the site is shutdown the information will no longer be available here.

We appreciate every member's involvement with advancing the FPV hobby. It is indeed sad to say goodbye to all our online friends. Be safe and stay healthy.

  1. Terry, you said get the best reciever affordable. I am finding very little information on the topic of long range recievers. What constitutes a good reciever? The one that is coming with my radio is a Futaba R168DF, with dual conversion (whatever that is...). Its equally as expensive to purchase new as a 7ch BERG reciever, which would give me better range & reliability? I will need to purchase a few extra recievers for my other models aswell.

  3. I ended up buying a futaba 7caf 7 channel transmitter with a R168DF reciever. Do you guys think this will give me acceptable range for FPV piloting? I read good reviews about it, and dropped more than I expected to on it, but I think it'll be worth it in the end.
  4. I just finished my first FPV plane, an easystar, and the video link works excellent now... Now, I'm being limited by my 4ch chinese 72mhz radio and RX. I got out a about 1000' and it starts glitching like crazy, and cause a minor crash. I know the area is about as quiet for RF noise as it gets, so I beleive its time to upgrade to a better controller and receiver. I was looking at possibly a Futaba 6EXA package. I was also looking at a JR SX600 on ebay aswell. I am relatively new to the RC scene, so bear with me... I dont have a lot of cash to spend, and these were relatively affordable.
  5. Here is my brand new setup. Its my first FPV plane. I havent flown it yet. Just finished it tonight. Comments / Suggestions welcomed!!! Plane is an easystar. I've heard they're the best for starting with FPV. Interestingly, when I bought it I was expecting Blue, but this one is Gray. I like the color scheme better than blue. Wow... Pretty looking...   6. I just finished putting together my easystar, (first FPV plane). Anyways, onto the problem: I have a 2.4ghz 200mW ebay transmitter installed, using a separate battery for power. Video transmission works great. No motor interference, or vibration problems to speak of. I have a 72mhz radio tx & rx, and when I power up the video TX, the servos jitter, and the motor runs (sometimes uncontrollably, and very dangerous!!!). I have pinpointed the cause of the problem to the transmitter antenna. I tried ferrite magnets on the wiring harness for the video tx. If I remove the transmitter
  7. Thanks for the reply! Can you recommend some brand names and reasonable places to purchase equipment from? I understand the KX-131 camera is a popular choice for FPV. What is the legal transmission limit for a "civillian"? I know you require the HAM operators for 500mW.
  8. Hello all, I just finished converting my beloved wing dragon to brushless. I used a 1580KV motor, and a GWS 8x4 prop cut & balanced to 7" to clear my fuselage. With an 1100mAh lipo battery, I can keep this thing up in the air for upwards of 20 minutes. The power & thrust I now have is amazing compared to stock.
