Attention: RC-CAM.com will be closing down August 2021.

The RC-Cam.com forum was the very first online community dedicated to the advancement of wireless video cameras on radio controlled (R/C) models. This is now called "FPV" (First Person View). We are proud of the contributions that our members have made to the FPV hobby.

We've seen significant changes over the last twenty years. Initially there were a lot of eager R/C hobbyist that built their own video systems. Allowing these creative individuals to share their work was the purpose of this site. Now the FPV market is flooded with low cost systems; Sadly DiY FPV video projects are now rarely discussed.

RC-CAM.com (main site and forum) will be closing down August 2021. This is being announced now (March 2021) so that everyone has time to download any information that is important to them. After the site is shutdown the information will no longer be available here.

We appreciate every member's involvement with advancing the FPV hobby. It is indeed sad to say goodbye to all our online friends. Be safe and stay healthy.

  1. Gentlemen I am in the process off putting all my electronics in my airframe and just wanted any comments just incase I am breaking any golden rules of electronics. I know I will more than likely strike noise problems and I am prepared to spend time working them out but I would like to start with a good base point to make the job easier. Air frame Draganfly Predator Speed 400 pusher at rear . The speed controller is going to be mounted about two inches from the electric motor. Then the battery will be mounted about one inch in front of the speed controller. Coming

  3. Hello I have a friend that wants to know how to measure the Pulse width modulation output. Please be patient because this is a bit over my head. What he is trying to do is say switch on Nav Lights and then measure the pulse width modulation output and activate different things at different pulse widths. This doesn't make sense to me but he has asked me if I can find a source code so that he can read it and modify. Does anyone have a source code that they are prepared to offer say like from a NAV lights program or something similar. Any help appreciated. Crash
  4. Hello I have the Tinytrak up and working but I'm looking for software that will show dashboard instruments. I have found some but they require a com port. Does anyone know of software that is supported by AGWPE for soundcard interface that consists of a instrument panel like Visual GPS or Track Maker that doesn't need a com port? Any help is appreciated. Crash Pilot 1
  5. Mr. RC-cam Thanks for the reply. I understand that if there is no demand for the Pal system then it does't justify all the hard work and cost. In the worst case I will have to change my system over to NTSC so that it is compatable for these type of projects.(Hope my eyetops read both formats) From what I remember the MAHI can be converted back to NTSC without too much trouble. I'm still interested. Crash Pilot 1
  6. Mr RC Cam. Thought I'd get in early. With the development of the MAHI Pal verson, will this new progect support both formats through a bridge or jumper. If Pal if available I would be really interested. Any chance on a camera trigger controlled by GPS waypoint? Count me in if you release a PCB, PIC or even Kit. Your MAHI rocks and so will this. 7. Kilrah Thanks for you response. I will pay it but just wanted to check if this was normal. Looks like it is but the first invoice must have gone missing. Crash Pilot 1
  8. Hello Can anyone please advise. I ordered a RC plane over the internet from the US to Aiustralia. The plane cost $400 Dollars US . It was sent by DHL and arrived at their depot. I rang them to see when it was going to be delivered and they said the next day. I asked if there was any customs charges and they said that there didn't appear to be. The parcel was delivered O.K. Four weeks later I get a invoice saying I have to pay $122.86 for an unpaid account for customs. This is the first I have heard off this invoice and they have given me 7 days to pay it. Every other
  9. Hello Has anyone use the TT SMT from Byonics? http://www.byonics.com/tinytrak/ttsmt.php I am looking at purchasing one for basic Telemetry. Does anyone know of a better solution for around the same price range or know of better ground station software to use then Visualgpsxp? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Crash Pilot1
  10. Just completed the CamMan project tonight. It is great to find out that everything works when you get everthing back together. I cheated and paid the senior tech from the local electronics company to do the 4 surface mount soldered joints on the camera. I thought it was better to pay $20 then to damaged the camera. The hardest thing I found was getting the camera back together with the additional 4 wires. It would have been easier if I used a smaller gauge wire. But everything went back together nicely in the end without any breakages. No matter how carefull I was I still managed to ge
  11. Bart To keep your airplane level your best off using a Co-pilot from FMA Direct. https://www.fmadirect.com/site/fma.htm?body=Store Crash Pilot1
  12. Mr.RC-Cam I have requested a sample from the TI website. The auto response said that it will be shipped from the U.S on the 26th. Will have to wait and see if they send it. Thanks for your Help and advise. Crash Pilot1
  13. Hello Does anyone know a substitute for a PT5041N that is mentioned on the RC-Cam regulator project page. I am trying to source one in Australia to stepup from 7.2V to 12V. Diki-key want far too much for shipping to Australia and farnell's are out of stock and want $52 AUD . I have also tried RS components but they don't stock them. I need to power a 12volt transmitter and I want to save weight and room is a issue so I want to get away from using the 3 cell LI-ION pack I am currently using and run directly off the 7.2V 2 cell LiPo for my electric plane. Any help would be appr
  14. Mr.RC-Cam I will take a picture of the Text and markers for you tonight when I get home from work and post them. Crash Pilot1.
  15. Mr.RC-Cam I have bench tested the PAL MAHI board and it works great. The problem I had was that the Video signal was crossed over as you suggested. I must have checked it about 10 times and thought it was O.K. Don't know how I missed that one. The board is operating and everything is functioning great. This is a real nice piece of work and thanks for going to all the trouble to make the Pal version and assemble it. It was worth the extra paying for the assembled MAHI because I still don't know how you managed to do such a good job with the solderiing. I will keep you pos
  16. Hello I have order a V tail power glider. This glider looks like it uses the V-tail for rudder and elevator control. It requires mixing in the TX controller to control both flaps. The controller I have is a JR3810 which will handle the mixing. The problem that I have is that I want to install a autopilot and altitude hold device that I have. These devices are designed to use one channel each only. I am trying to find out a way that I can do this. I was thinking if I could get a 2 channel inline mixer I could have the rudder channel from the RX and the Elevator channel from the RX going
  17. Mr.RC-Cam Good to here that the Pal System is on its way. If you have to build a Pal proto type to test the Pal system and you want to sell it at the end please let me know and I would be happy to purchase it and pay extra for having it assembled. Otherwise I will just purchase the kit and find someone that can surface mount solder. Please note that it is greatly appreciated for your efforts in developing a PAL system. Thanks Crash Pilot1
  18. Tom Try this . I have managed to save it as a text file. GPS3PLUS_DATA.txt
  19. Tom I'm not that clued up on Hyperterminal either. I know how to view my gps data but thats were my knowledge ends. I can open the file on my PC but I think that is because I created it. For some reason when I delete the original and download the file I posted myself it won't open. I have tried saving it as a text file but it won't work either. I would be more than happy to record my data for you if someone would be kind enough to explain how we can do it. Crash Pilot
  20. Tom I have attached data. GPS3PLUS.ht
