The RC-Cam.com forum was the very first online community dedicated to the advancement of wireless video cameras on radio controlled (R/C) models. This is now called "FPV" (First Person View). We are proud of the contributions that our members have made to the FPV hobby.

We've seen significant changes over the last twenty years. Initially there were a lot of eager R/C hobbyist that built their own video systems. Allowing these creative individuals to share their work was the purpose of this site. Now the FPV market is flooded with low cost systems; Sadly DiY FPV video projects are now rarely discussed.

RC-CAM.com (main site and forum) will be closing down August 2021. This is being announced now (March 2021) so that everyone has time to download any information that is important to them. After the site is shutdown the information will no longer be available here.

We appreciate every member's involvement with advancing the FPV hobby. It is indeed sad to say goodbye to all our online friends. Be safe and stay healthy.

  1. Will see how close the altimeter could be from the camera lenses to be focused while focusing the rest of the image. Have also in mind the use of an antenna tracker but I wonder if there is any other simplest device that I´m not considering. I remember years ago a device called tinnytrack that was used to send telemetry through the audio line. Will search a little more. Thanks mate.
  2. Looking for Ideas. I need to record video images while fliying and store them into the video camera with the barometric altitude they were taken at. The only way I can imagine to add datas to the images so they are perfectly synchronized with the images are though the MIC imput of the camera recording them as audio (the camera doesnt accept any metadata imput in other way). I saw some barometric OSDs but that needs to record the images once transmited and I need to record full HD images, record the altitude datas at the same time and play them later together. So the way should be something

  4. I need to power two radios from a common power source but the common ground makes them work strange while working with their own bats gives no problem.
  5. Thanks. So what I need to find are isolated dc-dc units? I think Recom and Tracoshould work as I need 7.2 V and 300 mah only and the devices will be flying onboard so reduced weigh is a must. A couple of isolated dc-dc (one for each device) is all what I need?
  6. Hi friends. need to run two electronic devices that required to be powered by the same battery source but cant share the same negative pole. Any idea about how to isolate the negative pole from each other? or it is impossible and have no option other than using two different batteries?
  7. It could be the monitor. fpv glasses or different brand monitor works fine but have no other monitor equal that the ones that fails for tesring. As obe of the rx works nice Im using this one and as soon as I can put my hands on a scope will have a look on it.

  9. Should be something so. Tested today with a second pasport RX without problens and with a inmersion RX (compatible with the iftron TX) and it failed the same way as the first passport RX. At least that left adide a possible power trouble or a fail in the emited signal. Do you know if the levels yor pointed me to check are commonly adjustable in RX systems through a pot or defined by some fixed value resistors? Thanks for your time mate.

  11. Hi guys. Im using a pasport 5.8 diversity Rx. Using it with Fpv gogles gives nice and clean image but with a fpv monitor it shows the image switching between image and no image every second or so. The monitor shows a label indicating PAL sometimes and SECAM the next flick and so on. Have tried seoarate batteries, increase distance between rx and monitor, remove one antena rx to force no diversity action ...nothing helps. Direct video in from the camera shows perfect image. A cheap chinese 1.2 rx shows perfectly stable image. Any idea about what should I look at?

  14. The radar cone is not flat so take of with it enabled must be virtualy imposible. Mixing the signal with the elevator channel using a minimix or similar is what I`m thinking to do and a knob from the tx to reduce the gain or the mixing ammount. The goal is to have a virtual spring between the ufo and what it has infront so and obstacle can be close up to a certain distance but no more. Have a Hoverfly Sport board and it` s possible to directly fit this sensor to use it for altitude control. Must check if it works outdoors so I`ll start ordering one but could be fine if someone finds a way
  15. At first a single unit pointed forwards to fly close to a building but safe enough not to crash with it. As soon as the building comes into the radar range the elevator channel must push the unit back until the building is out of range again.
