  1. I have assembled the RCAP and programmed the PIC 16F876A I/SP. When powering up the RCAP the diode stays off. Then, after ca. 10 seconds it is turned on. It will stay lit for ca. 40 seconds and then be turned off. Then a ticking sound can be heard from the servo. I can't control the servo from my radio at any time. It doesn't seem like I manage to turn the RCAP on or off. Does anyone have a clue what can be going on here?
  2. I realized that I tried to program the wrong PIC. Didn't pick the 16F876A...... So I managed to program it, but the RCAP doesn't semm to work. The diode lights up for maybe 30 secs, then it shuts off. No response on the servo at any time. Is there any "user manual" for the RCAP?
  3. I have built the RCAP project and the only thing remaining is to program the PIC16F876. I use the PICALL programmer. When I start to program the following message is displayed: Program error: Program: address=0000 buffer=2959 device=3FFF. I use the following settings: osc. : XT Hardware: Watchdog Timer, Power Up Timer, Brown-out detect, Fl.Prog.Mem.Write Any of you have an idea what can be wrong?
  4. I am also interested in a LINX amp. I live in Sweden, and I can't find anyone who trades this brand. Are there any similar amps (other brands) that can be used instead of LINX amp? Where can I find the datasheet on the LINX so I can compare data with the amps available in Sweden?
  5. I will be making a new patch antenna using the GB antenna plans. Great guide! I opened my receiver from wirelessvideocameras.com and had a look at the original patch antenna. The antenna is connected with a short coax cable to the sardin-can. I wonder if I can just unsolder the old antenna and use the coax for the new one? The layout of the receiver makes it impossible to connect the antenna directly onto the receiver unit. I guess the new (larger) patch antenna will not change the impedance in the system? What are your thoughts?
  6. I just got a 1.2-1.4GHz antenna and I wonder if I can modify it to use it for my 2.4GHz system? Also, my Graupner radio (tx )has messed up and I need to buy a new one. Which radio do you recomend when range is the main issue?
  7. Sorry for being unclear. When the connector is not connected to the system (not under load) I get 12VDC. When connected the voltage drops to 7.5VDC. Using my original setup with 18VDC to 12VDC converter(which works ) I measure a current of about 30mA and a voltage drop ,when under load, to 9.5VDC. Hope this clears up abit.
  8. I have simply connected the accu to pin 1 (gnd) and pin 2 (+Vin) and use pin 6 (+Vout) and pin 7 (-Vout) for 12V output to the cam. I have tried two accus. The first one is a 4.8V NiMH 1500mAh pack and the other a regular 9.0V battery from Duracell. None worked. I wonder, can I use a 9.6V pack even if the max input is specified to 9.0V? I have two fast charge/recharge accus which can deliver far more than the two I have tried.
  9. I tried to replace my 18volt setup (being converted to 12 volt) with TMR 0512 from Traco that converts 5-9vdc to 12vdc. It should be able to deliver up to 167mA. I can't get it to deliver enough power. Measuring on an open connector gives me 7.5v when everything is running. On the original setup I measure 9.5v when running. Measuring the current gives me far below 10mA on the 18v setup, but far higher (120mA) on the 5v setup (because of low voltage....?). I tried using a 9v battery instead, but the result was the same, no picture and 7,5vdc on the open connector. When not under load the converter gives me 12vdc perfect. I did connect the output gnd to -v out, not the gnd where the input gnd is connected. Any suggestions, similar experience?
  10. Thats the stuff I would like to have! Kind of expensive, but its nice to have something to reach for. In the meantime I will have to continue the search for a cheaper solution! I know some have talked about nightflying. Any idea what camera they use?
  11. Does anyone know if there are IR-cameras that fits our smallsize videosystems?
  12. I am about to set up the AGWTracker, using TinyTrackIII to send GPS data through the audiochannel down to my laptop. I have no clue how to configure the AGWTracker software for this purpose. Can anyone give me a hint how to proceed?
  13. I am working on my main project in mechatronics at the moment. I am going to use the ADXL202 accelerometer as a dual axis tilt sensor. I guess this component can be used for pan/tilt applications too. (I use the Infineon C167 in the assignment, but I am thinking of using a PIC later to use it in my RPV). Anyone tried the ADXL202? The limit on this accelerometer is +-2g, so it will not be usable as a g-measuring device in a plane, but it would be neath to find some similar chip that can measure, say +-9g.
  14. After making an adjustable power supply for my ALM camera I have gotten in to trouble with light sensitivity. I have to adjust the power when it is abit cold. The problem is that the camera gets very sensitive to light when doing this, and the picture gets messy with alot of colors.....non usable... So I guess a sunshade can help me here, but I wonder what to use to minimize quality loss.
  15. I am thinking of improving my receiver antenna on my ALM video gear. I have opened the box and had a look on the PCB. Does any of you know where to connect a new antenna? Has anyone modified this kind of receiver?
  16. I solved the problem and will just make a short comment on the fix. I made a 6v battery pack and added a 0-250ohm trim pot to it. This way I can trim the power supply for all temperatures.
  17. I have an ALM-2451G camera with integrated TX. This time of the year the camera is unusable because lots of vertical coloured lines appears when the system gets cold. I have tested it on a variable voltage supply, and when lowering the voltage (the camera being warm and picture clear) these lines appears. I run it on a 5volt circuit. I tried 6volt,but the picture went white. The data sheet says the system can take 4.8-7.2VDC. I guess I have to get a pot and adjust the camera voltage after the weather conditions. Anyone else with similar experience? Flutter
  18. DrMike I'd really like to hear more about the optical mouse solution for headtracking. Can you give more details? Flutter
  19. Absolutely. I agree. My Cub is only my testbed though. I am doing a design study at my university at the moment, and I calculate a canard pusher, with extreme low wingloading. The design will look something like the Scaled Proteus. This is a full scale design though, with a weight of 2000pounds. I am thinking of making/calculating a scale version of it which I may build one day (when I get my own composite workshop.......). Well, back to my question about power supply. I still don't know what battery I should use to supply the 5-and 12volt regulators. I can get AA cells with 2200mAh capasity, but making a +12volt supply of AA will make the pack far to heavy. Flutter
  20. Thanks for the info. Seems like a neat set up. I also do think that going electric is the best. Having solarpanels for charging would be nice, and expensive. I read somewhere about a guy using an old printer motor as a generator. I hoped to find something simelar to that. I have one question about generators on rc planes though. I want one to extend flying time, but I don't think my fuel will be enough for more than say max. 30min, so why the generator? What flying times do you get? I am really thinking seriously if it would be better to build a large electric glider. My Cub has probably a drag coefficient like a brick!
  21. Hi I am planning to use two regulators in my set up. One that delivers 5volt and one 12volt to supply all the different components (video tx,TinyTrack,GPS overlay and camera). I was thinking of having one main source that is above 12 volts for these two regulators. Also it would be nice to add a generator, like an inverted motor, but I haven't found any candidates for this job jet. What do you use? Flutter
  22. Hi mikep I will build your autopilot in the near future, but I am considering buying the PCB. Do you ship to Sweden? Flutter
  23. Hi I am going to buy a FMA copilot now,but I really don't know if I should buy the new version or not. I need a flexible sensor which can be used in typically RPF/UAV projects. I just wonder if the new Copilot limits possibilities since it is integrated with its own receiver? What + and - can you say about the two? (Had my first real cyberflight today. My flying wing,TempraII, just wanted to leave the field. My fellow copilot saved me from just flying into the sunset! Very nice experience....)
  24. Just have to mention a little boat I saw at last years Hobby Show in Stockholm. It was equipped with cell.phone receiver and could be controlled from anywhere! There was a phonenumber on the boat that you could call and test its functions. The inventor said that it was very hard to control when using your phone buttons. If I find more details I will let you know.
  25. Hi I am looking for a C-compiler, possibly one that I can use with MPLAB. What do you suggest I should use to compile C-code for programming of PIC16F84,16F87 etc.? Flutter
