The RC-Cam.com forum was the very first online community dedicated to the advancement of wireless video cameras on radio controlled (R/C) models. This is now called "FPV" (First Person View). We are proud of the contributions that our members have made to the FPV hobby.

We've seen significant changes over the last twenty years. Initially there were a lot of eager R/C hobbyist that built their own video systems. Allowing these creative individuals to share their work was the purpose of this site. Now the FPV market is flooded with low cost systems; Sadly DiY FPV video projects are now rarely discussed.

RC-CAM.com (main site and forum) will be closing down August 2021. This is being announced now (March 2021) so that everyone has time to download any information that is important to them. After the site is shutdown the information will no longer be available here.

We appreciate every member's involvement with advancing the FPV hobby. It is indeed sad to say goodbye to all our online friends. Be safe and stay healthy.

  1. Funny you should say that ! I have done some more on a sunny day and all seemed ok. Played back on the A1 and PC MP10 no bother. When I came to import the video into Movie Maker MM said the file could not be imported as it had not been indexed ( I think this may be my fault as I renamed the file while it was still in the PVR H: drive)) I had to down load MS encoder and that allowed me to import the file. trouble was it had made it jerky and pixelated in places, especially around the prop strobing Perhaps I should have just transferred the file to my PC then renamed it.   2. Well Here it is at long last - The first decentish video from a model aeroplane that I have been able to acieve to date.   3. The dvd authoring program I am using is Arcsofts showbiz 2 (came bundled with the DVDwriter) I am editing first in movie maker then exporting to showbiz 2 not sure I understand about impedence but it seems that my setup works ok

  6. I'm not quite why it works either but it does. now I can view what the camera sees and when there's dropout I don't care because I know I'm not recording the rubbish. With the raw footage from the A1 , What would you consider to be the best format (codec?) to save it as after Movie Maker? I am writing to DVD so size is not going to be a problem, I won't need compression
  7. Soory got that wrong KILRAH tells me in an earlier post that the PVR A1 records in 320 x 240 but it still looks ok when I burn it to dvd then play it on my 32" plasma
  8. Not quite sure of the record res but I am reliably informed that it is 640 x 480 in SP mode and less in LP mode your setup seems ideal

  13. Hi guys Anybody any ideas where I can purchase a PT 5041N DC DC converter in the good old UK I know Digikey do them but they want £30 for ONE shipped to UK (Thats about 60 Bucks) there has got to be a cheaper way!!!!!!

  18. Hi Philthyy thanks for getting back to me. I "guestimated " that my setup was running at 1.16 so many folk have said that is the most likely so I made a patch ant scaling the 2.4 gHz one to suit I found an F connector and soldered this to the reflector with a piece of copper wire suitable for the F socket soldered directly to the element This gave me about twice the range as before. Then I had a brainwave! I remember reading (maybe Here) that the optimum length for the TX whip is 65mm Mine was 110 so I did a ground test with a pal watching the monitor I walked away with the Tx. my

Hi Guys been reading loads about the requirement of a ham licence to operate 2.4GHz TX's that trasmit more than 10mw Can anyone advise me what level of licence I would need to operate say 200mw and how I would go about obtaining one?? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I dont want to fall foul of the law
