Attention: RC-CAM.com will be closing down August 2021.

The RC-Cam.com forum was the very first online community dedicated to the advancement of wireless video cameras on radio controlled (R/C) models. This is now called "FPV" (First Person View). We are proud of the contributions that our members have made to the FPV hobby.

We've seen significant changes over the last twenty years. Initially there were a lot of eager R/C hobbyist that built their own video systems. Allowing these creative individuals to share their work was the purpose of this site. Now the FPV market is flooded with low cost systems; Sadly DiY FPV video projects are now rarely discussed.

RC-CAM.com (main site and forum) will be closing down August 2021. This is being announced now (March 2021) so that everyone has time to download any information that is important to them. After the site is shutdown the information will no longer be available here.

We appreciate every member's involvement with advancing the FPV hobby. It is indeed sad to say goodbye to all our online friends. Be safe and stay healthy.

  1. Second hub going well now with new PA6B. Thanks for everything. Just got workout how to get it say all my telemtry values. Les
  2. Speak of the devil, The gps arrived today, hopefully will fit it and then look forward to having my radio speak telemtry events and all the other goodies. Les
  3. Thomas, Yes i have the second hub working, removing the sensor and resoldering seems to have fixed the alt problem. Have ordered a new GPS module and are awaiting its arrival. Ive given up on the other one. Will have a closer look when the microscopes arrive but think its stuffed. Les
  4. Could be thomas, but when you get things fairly hot the solder just runs, this blob looks grey a bit like solder paste. I just touched the component and it moved. Anyway as i ran out of time last night i will try and have another look tonight. Oh i wish i had the sight of a 20 year old. Will keep you posted. Les
  5. Thomas, I managed to remove the top of the module. All one has to do is to remove solder from each side and the lid lifts off. The antenna has a spike on the inside which must connect when the screen is soldered down. Damaged a little of the earth track lifting one side so hopefully be able to run a fine wire when and if i reassemble it. Interesting enough i can see a problem, dont know if it will fix my problem but on the opposite side of tjhe module to the connections pins there is a smd component that appears not to be soldered. There also appears to be a blob of solder smothering it.
  6. Yes but more expensive than a replacement Pa6b and besides i like your design and its more under my control. Les
  7. Yes you are right. Ive found another source of these for $25 so in the spirit of DIY and learning i will dismantle. Will post some pics when done. Thanks agin for you valued input. Les
  8. Hi Thomas, Thanks for having a look. Points in question have originated from playing around. As i said above i have actually measured on the Gtop right at the edge of the screening on the Gtop and have appropriate voltages and stable. This hole thing looked a lot better before i messed with it.All pins on the Gtop are in a state that line up with the Data sheet for all good. Scoped pins and there is no oscillations either. The current seems very much the same. I notice that sometimes when power is applied the LED will ligh and stay on and not blink. Even pulling the enable pin low turns off
  9. Hi Thomas, Here the images of my faulty PA6b. Re the teardown, suppose the top soldered blob must be the connection to patch aerial. Guess will have to unsolder before removing shield. Thanks for the link. http://imageshack.us/a/img829/2194/img0570ay.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img543/707/img0571no.jpg
  10. Thanks, guess i'm on my own when i tear it apart. Will be posting a link shortly to pics i took of my board. Just waiting for my account to be activated. I tyook my pressure sensor of tonight and resoldered. It now appears to working ok. Will now have to try and program my Tx to speak altitude so i can test properly. Les
  11. Hi Thomas, Here are some pics, must apologise for the quality and the smd placement. They were better than this but i think with ectra heat removing the pa6b things have got messed up a little. This was first attempt though. I have checked for shorts between pins, pins s/c to gnd or supply and 3.3v at supply and vbat. Enable pin is high. Had the pa6b off the board to make sure it was soldered and there was nothing funny under the bd. Underneath the board is a hole and a solder blob and there is one on top of the module. What are these and do i need to unsolder before removing screen. Wi
  12. Time is my enemy, new pressure sensor has arrived so if cant get it going will change it. Hopefully will have some pic sof the Pa6b soon. I got a reply from the factory and they said the Minigps utility cant do what i was trying. Have you removed the screen from a PA6b before?. Les
  13. Success, now have a 9x with telemetry. Thanks again for the help. Will now work on getting the second one going. Will remove the pressure sensor resolder to see if i can get better results. Will also take some pics of the PA6b to send. Les
