I made small OSD project. Currently it displays voltage of each cell from 3s. Voltage of cell below 3.19v starts blinking.

This circuit is plugged between camera and TV TX. In my LCD glasses I can see video with text data overlayed. I am planning to extent the device by displaying GPS data relative to the launch site (X, Y, alt.), and heading and distance to the site.

Maybe somebody can recommend a cheap (40-60$) GPS module with RS-232 or simpler connection ?

There are many low cost GPS OEM module choices. As a starting point, check out what sparkfun offers.

GPS NMEA parsing will be challenging due to the limited amount of RAM on the PIC16F676. But certainly possible with some careful coding.

Thanks, I will check it out. Besides, I have only 540 bytes free and think about moving to some kind of 28-pin / 8k RAM PIC. Another choice is adding second PIC, which will prepare raw data to display by 1st PIC and link them by common memory or some kind of parallel communication. 2nd PIC will talk with GPS and stuff, 1nd will display.

As for cheap gps modules, you may check what this shop offers

this shop. It's in Poland (PLN to USD exchange rate is 3.20:1). I have been thinking about buying one of them. Another option may be a PS/2 GPS mouse. They are quite a lot of them on auction sites and they are droping in prices since Bluetooth GPS receivers seem to gain in popularity.

As for OSD module. All seem to cost about 100 USD. I found one, which seems to have the most extensive capabilities.

It is called BOB4. See this link.

Maybe someone who had tried this or its earlier versions could write something?

You may also check these guys. This module seems quite robust but it is simpler than BOB4.

Thanks! I eventually found some GPS modules here in Russia, and now am trying to know, which is better :D

Regarding OSD, I do not need to buy it - I made it myself :D
