Powering 1.2ghz receivers off 5v

Recommended Posts

In my attempts to reduce the overall size and power usage of the receiving end of my wireless RC camera setup I've discovered that on some of the Hong Kong 1.2ghz AV receivers can be powered off 5v instead of the 9v - 12v they usually state they need.

After soldering a wire across the appropriate voltage regulator inside the receiver it means you can power the 1.2ghz AV RX directly off 4x AA or AAA batteries. Of the 4 different AV receivers I have, two of them can run fine off 5v, but if it doesn't work the wire can be easily removed and no harm done.

Just thought I'd mention it in case someone finds this information useful :)

Some receiver will not work well if the voltage is not stabe like the Felsweb receiver. I need to add a 5V regulator if I use it with batterie.
