Tx antenna modding help

Recommended Posts

Hello

I'm new in this branch of the hobby, but I already own some equipment that hope could be used for FPV flying. This mini transmitter 2.4 Ghz has a very small antenna: is there a way to substitute it with a more efficent one?

Thanks in advance

Pierluigi

The TX aerial is the LAST thing I would look at changing if you don't know what you are doing. You may well end up with a worse signal than you started with.

Start with the RX aerial and then maybe add an SMA connector to your TX so you can add a standard aerial and point it vertical.

I agree with Terry -- don't hack the antenna unless you have a good understanding of what to do.

It's not clear what you have now (looks like a piece of coax with some mystery under the end cap). If you must experiment, a ground plane antenna is easy to build: http://www.yb2normal.com/antenna3.html

It's just a simple piece of wire. It does the job very well, you won't be likely to improve that yourself indeed if you don't know what you do.
