AWM 63x bypass capacitor

Hello,

the datasheet for the AWM63x calls for a 470uF bypass capacitor. This is rather large in value and in volume as well.

Does this have to be a low-ESR and is HF decoupling with a ceramic multilayer needed?

if you use a low voltage alu type 6-10V it is not that big,

I have also tried to use 220uF and 330uF also, with ok results,

I have also tried to use 3-6V tantalum types, they are expensive but really small.

I suggest you try it out and see what happens :-)

Thanks Thomas. I use a 6.3V 470uF regular (I guess that's aluminium) elco and it works well. I was just wondering if there are any other specifications required.

I also asked Airwave - and they said the same, there is no special requirements for this condenser.
