GPS Units

I got this from a list I'm on and thought it miht interest others here to read it.

It s significant to these people since they are using weather balloons above 60,000 ft.



I spoke with Garmin and they informed me that since

9/11 they have simply written their software to

shutoff if the device either goes above 60,000 feet OR

goes faster than mach 1. In reviewing the specs and

talking with Synergy Systems (distributor of the

Motorola M12+ board), they said that their device was

designed to continue to give altitude as long as the

speed did not exceed mach 1 - so we have chosen the
