Hi All.

I'm trying to use the Felsweb 500mW Tx/Rx wireless units to receive my video downlink. Is it possible to simply read the output voltage present at the RSSI output pin(pin 7)to check recieved signal strength with a multimeter,and is this voltage inverse to the signal strength.For example, lower voltage stronger signal strength;

Cheers Johnstorm.

The answer is yes. I am using RSSI output from Felsweb receivers to switch between two of them based to relative signal strength. You can also calibrate the RSSI output to give you an idea about distance to the model.

Regards,

Val.

With the help of a PIC microcontroller, I have the RSSI of my video Rx massaged into a 0-9 numeric value on an LED display. It also has a "range pinging" sound (periodic beep changes pitch, per signal strength) and a lost signal alert. The system works great.

This RSSI design was based on the Xcam-FSM project.
