D-Link Antenna for 2.4?

Recommended Posts

Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this, moderator, please move if needed.

Ok, question is, would there be any advantage to using this antenna on my DX6i spektrum radio?

Would I get an increase in range?

Or is this a ridicules idea?

http://www.dlink.ca/products/?sec=0&pid=416

If it would work, how would I go about hooking it up?

I know I would have to open the radio, but what connector would I need?

I am familiar with, and have access to coax crimping tools.

The idea is, since this is a magnetic base mount antenna, I could put it on the roof of my car and run the cable inside and fly FPV from there.

No advantage as you would decrease the range when flying overhead as the dead area would become bigger over the end of the aerial. True it would increase the range when flying at distance but you would have to ensure it was kept perfectly vertical. It is also not legal to change the aerial.

Thanks for your reply.

I probably would not be flying overhead, unless that happened by accident. :o

I'm not too worried about the legality of it, I would be using it out in the middle of nowhere. :)

Any idea what kind of connector I would need?
