That 915MHz monopole is an interesting design. The second and third order harmonic trap is a very nice feature. However, it is really meant for very compact designs where more efficient antennas cannot be used due to size. That is to say, it's not that it is better than all the other choices; it just has some advantages, as outlined in the article, when compared to a standard 1/4 wave end-fed vertical monopole.

I think you will find that a good dipole (ducky style) will perform better in our application. If their size is a problem on a small model (at 900Mhz they can be a bit bulky), then you should consider a compact dipole (helical tip design is one example of this).
