Ham Licence in UK

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

been reading loads about the requirement of a ham licence to operate 2.4GHz TX's that trasmit more than 10mw

Can anyone advise me what level of licence I would need to operate say 200mw and how I would go about obtaining one??

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I dont want to fall foul of the law

There are many amateur radio clubs in the UK. The one I am aware of (because my mate who is a member keeps on trying to get me to join - so little time, so much to do!) is at Milton Keynes (actually located in Bletchley Park). Their website will be found at http://www.mkars.org.uk/. Check out the Training page on the site as it has (brief details) of the three levels of licence and the ATV page. I will attempt to find out more info 'straight from the horse's mouth'. I presume the equivelent of the BMFA in the radio world, the RSGB at www.rsgb.org would be a good source of all sorts of information and also have details of clubs more local to you as MK would be a bit of a trek for you as it's bad enough for me!
