Frequency Counter?

I have a 900Mhz system in which I wish to build a GP antenna for. I read you need to use a frequency counter to accurately build the antenna using the included formula. Where would I go to use a frequency counter without having to buy one? What service shops use a frequency counter and about how much would it cost to get my system checked? I called a few TV repair shops and they said they do not have a frequency counter.

Finally, is it really needed? My system does have a tuning knob and I believe I read somewhere on this board it is recommended to get a frequency counter check to build the GP antenna. Is accuracy that important in the antenna sizing if I do not get the frequency counter check? Thanks!

Some things to try:

(1) Contact the local ham radio club and ask for help with a freq counter.

(2) Contact the supplier and ask for accurate transmitter specifications.

(3) Build the antenna based on what you think is the transmit frequency and see what happens.

Is accuracy that important in the antenna sizing if I do not get the frequency counter check?

Yes, accuracy is required if you want good performance.
