Modified Mk2 PilotCam

Recommended Posts

I have finished modifying my Mk2 PilotCam for my Sopwith Pup. I was having trouble with picture break-up and eratic camera movement which I finally traced to the minature toggle switch I'd used for the system power for the camera R/C and the video system. I already knew these toggle switches were useless for applications with vibration as a friend lost an aircraft a few years back due to one. Unfortunately I'd forgotten the lesson we had learnt the hard way. If you've got some don't put them anywhere near an IC powered aeroplane!

You can see some photographs and details of the modified PilotCam here:

and my Biqaud receiver aerial, built from Cyber-Flyer's drawing, which works really well here:

and finally some stills from the first flight at sunset yesterday evening here:

Hope you like them ....

No not yet, another thing for the 'To Do' (and the 'To Buy') list!

I did put a cheap (~£15) fixed focus film camera on a trainer type model four or five years ago and was amazed at some of the results I got. Maybe I will post some of the shots on my site sometime.
