aussie 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2005 I would like to bypass the on board battery system on an AIRHOG HELICOPTER and power instead via an external unbilical supply lead and external battery pack in order to provide a longer flight time I HAVE TWO QUESTIONS Will continuous operation overheat/damage the on board electronics? Will the standard motor be powerful enougth to raise the combined weight of the supply lead and the helicopter?
Mr.RC-Cam 123 Report post Posted October 11, 2005 I have no specific experience with the AirHogs, but ... Will continuous operation overheat/damage the on board electronics? The motors will probably have short lives due to high heat from continuous operation. They need to rest every few minutes in order to cool down. Will the standard motor be powerful enougth to raise the combined weight of the supply lead and the helicopter? The wires will need to be very lightweight; However, the weight you save removing the battery can be applied to the cable. Since the wire gauge will be small, the main power source will need to be a few volts higher to accomodate the voltage drop under load. It is all a matter of experimentation. Good luck, sounds like fun.
