Wrapping of Rx in foil

Recommended Posts

Hi folk. Many people believe that by wrapping a receiver in aluminium/cooking foil you can reduce interference. Is there any truth in this?

Thanks, David.

I've heard it go both ways. Some have claimed it helped to eliminate glitches and others have said it did absolutely nothing. It seems to me it will depend on what the interference source is and whether it is following a conducted or radiated entry path. If you do go to the trouble of trying the foil wrap, common RF practice dictates that it should be grounded to the Rx with a very short lead.
