If it didn't hang so often it would. These portable devices tend to create unplayable files when there are too many dropouts. I did the mistake of recording a really nice flight with one, unfortunately never managed to get it back.

That's 640x480 MPEG-4 recoding, so much lower quality than DV. Still is neat if you want something small and simple.

That's the only use of the device though. As an MP3 player it's really bad, and converting a video from the PC to put on it with the supplied software is awfully long. That is something like 5 hours on a P4 2.8GHz for a movie.
