Mr.RC-Cam 123 Report post Posted December 16, 2005 I've been patiently waiting for a low cost 3D (3-axis) compass IC that could be used for very accurate head-tracking and course navigation projects. I was totally thrilled to see the new Press Release from akm.com. They just released a fully compensated 3D compass IC. It provides accurate compass info while in any orientation. They even offer the source code to run it on a ARM processor. The Data Sheet: 3D Electronic Compass IC Target price is under $6, which is unbelievably low cost. But, there is a catch. Minimum order quantity is 25K pcs. They will not deal with low volume users. I guess I got what I wished for, but not what I wanted. I'm back to square one. Mr.RC-Cam 123 Report post Posted December 18, 2005 I already tried. They are not interested in supported low volume apps. If you work for a cell phone maker then you probably have a chance.
